Google made a new tool called Playground. It uses AI to make games from your words. You type what game you want. You can also change things later by typing, like characters, rules, movement, or the...

The model that runs on Playground (not accessible to change by any means, or identified anywhere) seems to be something about the intelligence of 3.1 Flash Lite. It cannot grasp basic instructions, cannot fix even very specific issues pointed out to it directly, is seemingly not capable of verifying the correctness of visual assets in any way, etc. IDK what the point of this thing is, it offers zilch over AI Studio Build, or Z.AI Full Stack, or ChatGPT Sites, or tons of other stuff that already exists.
That tracks with my experience too. Playground feels like it’s using a different, heavily constrained setup, so comparisons with AI Studio aren’t really apples to apples. The lack of transparency makes the quality gap especially frustrating.
I’ve noticed the same thing. Playground feels like it’s using a weaker or heavily constrained setup, especially with debugging and visual tasks. The gap is too consistent to chalk up to random variance.
I just tried this and the quality is dogshit. It generates output that acts and plays like early 2011 mobile apps. It’s not remotely ready for public access, not in this state. It’s frankly confusing they thought this was acceptable when compared to what’s out there.
Like even if AI didn’t exist and this was my first impression of AI this wouldn’t be good. It is a soulless excuse of a project. I’ve literally seen better outputs from startups or promoting Claude.
